Our History

Since 1977, founded by a group of individuals that saw a need for business and community representation, the North Channel Area Chamber of Commerce was formed. The North Channel area is located in the Northeast Harris County which includes three cities, City of Jacinto City, City of Galena Park, and City of Houston and the unincorporated East Harris County Channelview, Cloverleaf, North Shore, and Sheldon. The geographic service area includes; west up to McCarty, east up to the San Jacinto River, north up to Lake Houston, and south up to the Ship Channel. 

The chamber is governed by a Board and they set the direction of the Chamber. One of the founding fathers, Dr. Ed Lehr was the first Chamber Board Chair and served for two consecutive years 1977 and 1978. Since then, there is an election each year.
